Engage. Inspire. Sustain. Creating Your Volunteer Movement

On November 26, 2016 the Ottawa Sport Council  hosted Engage. Inspire. Sustain. Creating Your Volunteer Movement, the third annual Sport Summit, in Lansdowne Park’s Horticulture Building. Featuring a panel of guest speakers, this year’s edition will focus on learning about, and celebrating,  sport volunteerism in Ottawa.

Volunteerism is the backbone of Canada’s sport system. Currently, Canada has over 6.5 million volunteers with 35% of those being involved in sport. Additionally, 73% of sport organizations indicate they have no paid employees, making volunteerism an important factor in delivering great experiences in sport.

Since its formation, OSC has strived to help increase the leadership capacity of sport organizations in our nation’s capital. Volunteer Management, including recruitment, retention, recognition and retirement has been identified as an ongoing challenge by clubs in Ottawa.

We ran a full slate of sport-themed activities scheduled throughout the day, from a silent auction to a sport-themed trivia  contest.

The Ottawa Sport Council hosted and facilitated the Sport Summit free of charge. It is strongly suggested that attendees consider a minimum $30 donation to the Ottawa Sport Council Foundation Endowment Fund—established to provide funding opportunities for community sport organizations. Tax receipts will be provided.

The Sport Summit was held on November 26 2016 from  8:15 – 4:15. To learn more about the event, click here
