Top lifesavers from the Ottawa area and beyond will be competing at the 2014 Regional Waterfront Lifesaving Championships, taking place at Mooney’s Bay and Petrie Island Beaches on July 19-20, 2014.

The following rolling schedule is subject to change due to weather and water quality.

Saturday, July 19 Mooney’s Bay Beach
7:00AM Course Set up, Warmup
9:00AM Oceanman/woman Eliminator Challenge
Individual Junior events (Run, Board, Swim)
12:00-1:00 Lunch
1:00-5:00 Beach Flags elimination challenge
Junior flags and Relays events (Taplin and Board Rescue)

 

Sunday, July 20 Petrie Island Beach
7:00AM Course Set up, Warmup
8:30AM 2 km Beach run, surf swim, board race, ski race
12:00-1:00 Lunch
1:00-5:00 Beach Sprint, Mixed Sprint relay, Mixed Taplin, Mixed Board Rescue, Mixed RTR
5:00 Course take down
7:00 Social event at TBD location

Teams and individuals are invited to register for this competition according to the registration package by Tuesday July 15, 2014.
Payment details are included in the registration package.

Events will be divided between junior (9-16 years) and senior (16+) competitors. Junior competitors must able to swim 50 m freestyle and tread water for 1 minute. Senior competitors must hold a current Lifesaving Society Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross or National Lifeguard certification.

The Ottawa Valley Lifesaving Club is a community group of current and retired lifeguards, head guards, and pool supervisors who regularly practice their skills outside of the workplace. As part of their partnership with the City of Ottawa they host a number of competitions each year.
