Coaching Boys Into Men (CBIM) is more than a program – it’s a game-changer for teams and communities and NOW available in Ottawa through Interval House of Ottawa.
Designed specifically for coaches of young male athletes, CBIM provides a simple, effective way to lead powerful conversations about healthy relationships, consent, mental health, peer pressure, and standing up to harmful behaviours. These are conversations that build athlete-leaders — on and off the field — and coaches are in a unique position to deliver them.
The two-minute video below gives a comprehensive overview of CBIM in action, at one of the schools that implemented the program:
Interval House of Ottawa successfully piloted the CBIM program with a group of local coaches earlier this spring. For a limited time, we’re able to offer the program to community sports clubs, as well as coaches of boys’ teams at Ottawa high schools and middle schools. The CBIM program is completely free and includes coach training, ready-to-use discussion guides, and ongoing support throughout the season. Coaches lead just one 15-minute discussion each week, woven into regular team time, no extra meetings required.
To recognize the time and leadership of coaches, Interval House of Ottawa is offering $250 per team for participating community sports clubs, paid teacher release time for school-based teams, and National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) professional development credits.
Coaches are already invaluable mentors — and when it comes to promoting healthy team cultures, there won’t be a playbook for everything. That’s where we hope CBIM can help.
