Below you will find a comprehensive suite of Safe Sport Policy Templates (SSPS). These templates are designed to establish a baseline that can be adapted and enhanced to meet the specific needs of local sport organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bAlso below you will find:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Safe Sport Policy 101 Video and Resources (to explain Safe Sport Policy Suite and how to get started)&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Safe Sport Toolkit Implementation Webinar for Administrators&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Safe Sport Policy Activation Webinar&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The goal of the policy component of the toolkit is to enable community sport organizations to implement and share policies with stakeholders in ways that are accessible and understandable at all levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">POLICY IMPLEMENTATION<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. Watch the <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/pK_7nyfDW2Q\">Safe Sport Toolkit Implementation Webinar for Administrators<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. Watch the <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/keXmF1nvXww\">Safe Sport Policy 101 Video<\/a> and check out the <a href=\"https:\/\/sportottawa.ca\/fr\/ottawa-safe-sport-toolkit\/policies\/safe-sport-policy-101-resources\/\">Safe Sport Policy 101 resources<\/a> to understand what is available to support you which includes the Safe Sport Policies Summary Sheet, Safe Sport Tips for Athletes, Safe Sport Tips for Coaches, and Code of Conduct Checklists for all your stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3. Watch the <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/htRfnAgCmT8\">Safe Sport Policy Activation Webinar<\/a>. Read the <a href=\"https:\/\/sportottawa.ca\/fr\/ottawa-safe-sport-toolkit\/policies\/safe-sport-policy-templates\/\">Safe Sport Policy Templates<\/a>, either before or after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=htRfnAgCmT8\">Safe Sport Policy Activation Webinar<\/a> so you are aware of the intent of each policy and what you will need to do to implement them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">5. Create your own Safe Sport Policies based on the templates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">6. Determine if any amendments (that don\u2019t change the intent of the policy) are needed and make any amendments necessary. Be sure to customize the Screening and Training Matrix (Appendix A of the <a href=\"https:\/\/sportottawa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/2J-Screening-Policy-Template.pdf\">Screening Policy<\/a>) to match your organization\u2019s screening and training requirements identified in your Screening Policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">7. Determine if any amendments are needed and make any amendments necessary to the <a href=\"https:\/\/sportottawa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/2C-Code-of-Conduct-Template.pdf\">Code of Conduct and Ethics<\/a> and related <a href=\"https:\/\/sportottawa.ca\/fr\/ottawa-safe-sport-toolkit\/policies\/safe-sport-policy-101-resources\/\">Code of Conduct Checklists<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">8. Determine if any other amendments are needed and make any amendments necessary to any other policies within the <a href=\"https:\/\/sportottawa.ca\/fr\/ottawa-safe-sport-toolkit\/policies\/safe-sport-policy-templates\/\">Safe Sport Policy Templates<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">9. Double-check to make sure your Safe Sport Policies refers to your organization by name throughout the policy suite OR names your organization as \u201cthe Organization\u201d in the \u2018Definitions\u2019 section and then refers to \u201cthe Organization\u201d throughout your Safe Sport Policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">10. Submit a motion for your organization\u2019s Board of Directors to adopt your customized Safe Sport Policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">11. Once approved, post your Safe Sport Policies or a link to it on your organization\u2019s website and\/or social media pages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">12. Once your Screening Policy has been customized and adopted by your organization\u2019s Board of Directors, read and share your screening and training requirements in your Screening and Training Matrix, so you and others are aware of the requirements and your responsibilities to ensure the requirements are met by everyone in your organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">13. Send your Code of Conduct and Ethics and related Checklists to all relevant stakeholders, including athletes, parents, coaches, officials and administrators, to be signed with a deadline for returning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">14. Send the <a href=\"https:\/\/sportottawa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/3C-Safe-Sport-Tips-for-Athletes-0921.pdf\">Conseils de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 pour les athl\u00e8tes<\/a> et <a href=\"https:\/\/sportottawa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/3D-Safe-Sport-Tips-for-Coaches-0921.pdf\">Conseils pour les entra\u00eeneurs en mati\u00e8re de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 dans le sport<\/a> to your athletes and coaches and let them know they are based on your Safe Sport Policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">15. Implement the <a href=\"https:\/\/sportottawa.ca\/fr\/ottawa-safe-sport-toolkit\/engagement-and-communication\/\">Engagement element<\/a> de la <a href=\"https:\/\/sportottawa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/1E-Ottawa-Safe-Sport-Toolkit-Framework-0921.pdf\">Ottawa Safe Sport Toolkit Framework<\/a> to discuss and review policy questions and concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Repeat all steps annually.
