This summer, the Ottawa Sport Council is developing free resources tailored to support Ottawa-based community sport organizations in volunteer management. After initial consultation with sport leaders throughout the city, we have identified eight potential resources. These resources support key areas of volunteer management including:
- Volunteer Board of Directors – Recruitment & Management
- General Volunteer Recruitment & Onboarding Support
- Advocacy: Why Volunteer in Sport?
At this time, we have the capacity to develop three resources from those identified. We want to hear from you which of the eight potential resources would be most valuable to support volunteer management in your community sport organization!

Sport Volunteer Matchmaking!
In addition to creating three free resources tailored to community sport organizations in Ottawa, the Ottawa Sport Council will be revamping our website to support a “volunteer matchmaking” process for individuals and organizations across the city.
This volunteer matchmaking process will include an online form for both individuals seeking volunteer opportunities and community sport organizations seeking new volunteers. By introducing this initiative, the Ottawa Sport Council hopes to be able to connect individuals to community sport organizations for volunteer opportunities of all kinds including Board of Directors, committees, event volunteers, etc. Stay tuned for further updates!
