HIRING- Marketing, Communications and Event Coordinator – SUMMER STUDENT

Working from their own home office, the Marketing, Communications and Event Coordinator will create and deliver an awareness campaign to highlight the support offered by the Ottawa Sport Council to community sporting organizations and to promote the Ottawa Sport Council Sport Summit. Activities will include writing of articles, newsletters, press releases, and success stories as well as development of the communication plan for the Ottawa Sport Summit.

Responsibilities:

The Marketing, Communications and Research Intern’s responsibilities include:

  • interact with Ottawa Sport Council (OSC) members through email, phone conversations and in person meetings
  • create an awareness campaign to highlight the support offered by the Ottawa Sport Council including newsletter creation, success stories and press releases as part of communications team
  • develop and execute communication plan for Ottawa Sport Summit

Eligibility:

To be eligible, students must:

  • be currently enrolled full- time in a post-secondary institution in 2015-2016 and intend to return to school on a full-time basis for 2016-2017, preferably in a Sport Management, Communications or Journalism program
  • be a Canadian citizen permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant Ontario legislation and regulations

Qualifications:

  • Strong Verbal and Written English Communications, editing and Presentation skills
  • Strong Marketing , Creative Thinking, and Project Management Skills
  • administratively organized and superior attention to detail
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize appropriately
  • Self-directed – ability to work independently
  • Quick study and enthusiastic learner.
  • Present a professional and mature attitude in dealing members and partners .
  • Computer/internet savvy including all Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Access to a vehicle is an asset

Desirable Qualifications

  • Website development Experience – experience working with WordPress, Campaign Monitor

Duration of Internship:

  • 8 weeks

 Funding for the Marketing, Communications and Event Coordinator position has been provided by the Canada Summer Jobs 2016 program (a government of Canada summer employment program) and Ottawa Tourism

Compensation:

$14.50 per hour
