Ottawa Sport Council questionnaire to federal candidates regarding community sport

In September, the Ottawa Sport Council reached out to Ottawa’s federal election candidates to learn about their positions regarding issues of interest and concern for the Ottawa sport community. Two key goals of this initiative were to:

  1. Increase candidates’ awareness of the challenges facing the community sport sector in Ottawa
  2. Provide the community sport sector in Ottawa with a clear picture of candidates’ plans to address their challenges, at the community level

The survey included questions regarding sport infrastructure and facilities, funding for amateur and high performance sport, and the use of sport for development.

The Ottawa Sport Council is pleased to share the responses from the following candidates:

Liberal Party of Canada:

New Democratic Party of Canada :

Green Party of Canada:

No candidates from the Conservative Party of Canada responded to our request.

We hope this information provides a view into what the parties and candidates stand for with respect to sport and physical activity and if these issues enter into your decision making on election day, we hope this information will help you to cast your vote accordingly.
