We’re Hiring – the Ottawa Sport Council is looking for a new Executive Director

In June 2012, 75 sport advocates, community organizations, and local leaders from Ottawa convened to explore the potential of establishing an “Ottawa Sport Council.” The response was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting not only strong support for the initiative but also a comprehensive list of needs within the sport sector that the Council could address.

The Ottawa Sport Council was officially incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in January 2013, with a mission to support Ottawa’s community sport sector and enhance accessibility for underrepresented populations. We believe that every sporting experience should be a positive one. Over the past 11 years, I’ve had the honour of serving as Executive Director, working alongside our remarkable Board of Directors, dedicated team members, and the City of Ottawa. I am immensely proud of what we’ve achieved together.

As organizations evolve, it’s essential to bring in fresh ideas and perspectives. Therefore, the Ottawa Sport Council is seeking a new leader. The Executive Director (ED) will provide strategic leadership, oversight, and hands-on execution to advocate for, educate, and connect Ottawa’s sport community. Key responsibilities include managing daily operations, fostering community partnerships, and ensuring the sustainability and growth of the Council’s programs. The ideal candidate will be experienced, creative, and passionate, with a deep understanding of community sport. I will collaborate with the new Executive Director to facilitate a seamless transition.

The success of the new Executive Director will rely on building strong relationships within the sport community. We invite you, our members, to share this opportunity within your networks, helping us identify the best possible candidate.

It has been an absolute pleasure to work with you all over the last 11 years to ensure community sport in Ottawa thrives- thank you for your support and partnership.
