Ottawa Sport Council Introduces 2024-2025 Volunteer Board of Directors

The Ottawa Sport Council (OSC) is pleased to welcome two new Board members following its Annual General Meeting in May. 

Newly elected board members include Alana White (secretary) and Chelsea McDermott (director). 

Alison Korn and Aaron Lee will be leaving the OSC board after several years of service. The OSC wishes to thank Alison and Aaron for their significant contributions to the community sport sector through their time on the board.

As the leading voice for amateur sport in Ottawa, the Ottawa Sport Council facilitates education and advocacy for the growth of all community sport organizations.

Alana White has been active in sport from a young age, beginning gymnastics at age three and competing from age six into her early twenties. She began working in sport over ten years ago with both non-profit and privately-owned organizations in capacities such as administration, finance, events, and athletic development. Alana currently leads the finance and administration team at Volleyball Canada, and is a proud NCCP gymnastics coach and Level 9 women’s artistic gymnastics judge. She is especially passionate about increasing and extending participation of girls and young women in sport, and looks forward to joining the Ottawa Sport Council Board to support its work. 

Chelsea McDermott joins the Ottawa Sport Council board with over a decade of experience in sports. She has worked with prestigious events and organizations, including the 2015 Pan Am Games, OHL, CEBL, CFL, and NHL. Currently, she is the Vice President of Business Operations for the NLL’s Ottawa Black Bears, debuting in December 2024. Chelsea has a deep appreciation for and has seen the impact of minor league sports on youth of all ages and abilities. She is excited to join the board and continue supporting access & awareness to these opportunities to the Greater Ottawa Region.
